We provide free, volunteer-run rickshaw rides for people in Bury St Edmunds who find it difficult to get out and about.
Our goal is simple: to bring connection, joy, fresh air and friendship to anyone who needs it.
Who we are
Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw is a volunteer-powered community service made up of people who simply care about helping others. Our riders, Chatty Chums, admin coordinators and repair helpers all play their part in keeping the wheels turning — quite literally.
Together, we create opportunities for people who may be isolated, housebound or less mobile to enjoy fresh air, friendly conversation and a sense of belonging.
We believe that everyone, regardless of age, mobility or circumstance, deserves the chance to get outdoors, feel connected and experience the simple joy of being part of the community they call home.
Our volunteers give their time not just to cycle a rickshaw, but to bring comfort, confidence and companionship to those who need it most.
What we do
Every week, we offer free rickshaw rides across Bury St Edmunds for individuals, families, and care home residents.
Our volunteers provide:
- Warm, friendly companionship
- Safe, comfortable rides in our power-assisted rickshaws
- Help for those who are isolated, housebound, lonely, or simply in need of a change of scenery
- Support for care homes through regular ride schedules
